Certificate Policy

Last updated: November 7, 2026.

A Typing Scale certificate is a personal record of one completed browser typing attempt. It is not an accredited qualification or a supervised assessment.

This policy explains what a certificate shows, how its results are calculated, what it does not prove, and how printing and privacy work. Please read it before you share a certificate with anyone else, so you can describe it accurately.

What It Shows

The certificate includes speed in words per minute (WPM), accuracy, duration, difficulty, correct characters, errors made, and date.

The participant must enter their full name before starting. This self-supplied name is used on the certificate; identity is not checked. A completed timed test, at least one correct character, and at least 90% entry accuracy are required for a certificate.

The certificate records the result of that one attempt only. It does not show earlier attempts, practice history, or a general level of typing ability, and it should not be read as a summary of all your typing.

How Results Are Calculated

WPM treats five correct characters as one word. Accuracy counts incorrect entries even when corrected. Settings and input methods can affect results.

Because the test runs in your browser, your device, keyboard, and test settings can affect the result. For a fair comparison between attempts, use similar settings and a similar test length, and remember that one result on one day does not prove a fixed typing speed.

Its Limits

  • Tests are unsupervised; we do not verify who used the keyboard.
  • The record reference identifies a locally generated copy.
  • Employers and schools decide whether to accept a record and may require their own test.

Do not alter scores or present the certificate as an independently verified, accredited, or formally recognized qualification. Changing any result, name, or date makes the record inaccurate, even if the change seems small.

A certificate is a record of practice, not proof of identity, employment, education, or professional standing. If an employer, school, or other organization needs a verified result, it will need to run its own supervised test under its own rules.

No Verification and No Stored Records

There is no verification system for Typing Scale certificates. We do not provide a way to look up a certificate, check a record reference online, or confirm a result to a third party.

We do not store certificate records on our server. Your name, result, and certificate are created in your browser, and we do not keep a copy that we can search, retrieve, or reissue later.

For that reason, a certificate has no ID for verification, no QR code, and no server generated PDF. Anyone who receives a copy can only judge it by the details shown on it and by the limits described in this policy.

Printing and Privacy

After completing a test on the Typing Certificate Generator, use your browser to print or save the certificate as a PDF file. Keep your own copy, and check the name and result before you share it.

Your name, result, and certificate are created in your browser. The certificate is stored only on your own device when you save it.

Reloading or restarting clears the attempt, so keep your own copy.

We cannot retrieve lost certificates.

Before you share a certificate, check that it contains only the name and result you want to share. Do not include passwords, identity documents, or other personal details with it.

Questions

For display or calculation issues, email support@typingscale.com with the certificate details and a description of the issue. Please note that we cannot verify a certificate, retrieve a lost copy, or reissue a result, for the reasons explained above.
