  1. 1 Add your text
  2. 2 Take your test

Add Your Practice Text

Paste a paragraph you want to practise, or try the sample to see how it works.

Your timer starts with the first character. The test ends when your time is up or you reach the end of your text.

Your practice text stays in this browser tab. It is not uploaded or saved by this tool.

Create a Test With Your Own Text

  1. Paste or edit an English passage in the setup box.
  2. Choose a time limit, then select Prepare My Test.
  3. Copy the passage into the separate typing box to begin.

Choose a Useful Passage

Use 20 to 20,000 characters. Extra spaces and line breaks become single spaces. Keep private information out of your passage.

Long words, numbers, punctuation, and familiar wording can change your score. Compare attempts using the same passage and time limit.

When the Attempt Ends

The test ends when time runs out or you finish the passage. WPM uses your actual typing time; very short attempts provide a smaller sample.

Your passage and typing stay in the current tab without being uploaded or saved to browser storage. Reloading or closing the page clears the attempt.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my own text for a typing test?

Yes. Paste an English passage containing 20 to 20,000 characters into the setup box, choose a duration, and select Prepare My Test.

Can I paste into the typing box?

No. Pasting is allowed in the passage setup box, but the separate typing box accepts your own typed input. Backspace is available for corrections.

Are custom typing scores comparable with standard tests?

Only with care. Passage familiarity, wording, punctuation, and length affect performance. Keep the same passage, duration, and device when comparing your custom attempts.
