The first press or tap starts the timer. Holding Space does not add repeats.

This measures presses received by this page. Keyboard hardware, browser shortcuts, and touch input can affect comparisons.

Count Separate Presses

  1. Choose five, ten, thirty, or sixty seconds.
  2. Click the pad to start, then press and release Space.
  3. On a touch screen, tap the pad instead.

The first pad activation starts the timer and counts as one press. Holding Space does not add automatic repeats.

Read the Rate Fairly

Presses per second equals total presses divided by elapsed seconds. For example, 40 presses in ten seconds gives four per second.

Finish Early uses the actual time elapsed. Restart Counter clears the attempt. Compare keyboard presses separately from screen taps.

This counter measures repeated input. Use the typing skills test to check words, punctuation, and accuracy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a spacebar counter work?

Each separate Space press or pad activation adds one. The first activation starts the timer, and the counter stops at your selected duration.

Does holding the spacebar increase the count?

No. Automatic key repeats are ignored. Release and press Space again, or tap the pad separately, to add another count.

How is presses per second calculated?

Divide total presses by the time used in seconds. For example, 30 presses in ten seconds gives an average of three presses per second.
